Hornady Precision Hunter Ammo
Hornady recently announced a new .300 Win. Mag. load in its Precision Hunter ammo line using a 178-grain ELD-X bullet. Accuracy and terminal performance are the cornerstones of the Precision Hunter factory loads. They use clean-burning propellants and are loaded to uniform capacity for consistent shot-to-shot results regardless of temperature. This attention to detail provides high levels of accuracy and performance uniformity. The ELD-X (Extremely Low Drag-Expanding) bullet is an all-range hunting bullet featuring consistent, controlled expansion at all reasonable hunting distances.
Sports Afield editor Diana Rupp can attest to that claim. “Reading about the new Precision Hunter load got me thinking about a hunt in New Zealand a couple of years ago,” she said. “I was using my trusty old 7mm Rem. Mag. loaded with the then-new 162-grain ELD-X Hornady Precision Hunter load. A big, amped-up red stag came storming in, and I dropped him at the point-blank range of 40 yards with a frontal shot. A couple of days later, I made a one-shot kill on a fallow deer buck—a much smaller, lighter animal—standing broadside at almost 300 yards. The bullet performed perfectly in both cases. Impressive versatility from the ELD-X!”
